Tom Hunnicutt

Vice President

Asheville native Tom Hunnicutt is a graduate of the Asheville School. From there, he went on to attend the US Coast Guard Academy. He has a degree in geology from Georgia State University and graduate school credits from NC State University in hydrology. An avid hiker and outdoorsman, Tom spent four years with the US Forest Service before gravitating to the moving industry in 1996.

Having worked his way through college as a pre-load supervisor with United Parcel Service, he worked his way up from driver and crew supervisor to his current position as President with Gasperson Moving and Storage.

Through the years Tom has been an active member of the North Carolina Movers Association serving on the board and executive committee before becoming President from 2009-2011. Tom has also served on the Stevens’ Van Lines Agent Advisory Council and is currently serving on the North American Van Lines Quality Committee.

His exceptional skills have been recognized repeatedly. He is the recipient of the 2015 “James T Dorman Distinguished Service Award” and the 2009 “Mover of the Year” Award, both from the North Carolina Movers Association. He has received both the “4 star Quality Award” and “Customer Choice Quality Award” from North American Van Lines as well as Stevens Van Lines’ “Agent Committed to Excellence.”

Tom is a certified “ProMover” (a standard of professional ethical conduct) through the American Moving and Storage Association and is a “Certified Office and Industrial Consultant” (reflects proven expertise in coordinating and managing commercial moves) through that same organization.

Tom is an active member of the Asheville community and been awarded the “Distinguished Service Award” by the Rotary club of Asheville, where he has served on the board. He is also an alumnus of Leadership Asheville 18, a program that fosters exceptional community service.

In his free time, Tom spends time hiking and camping with his son, volunteers as a Boy Scout leader, and is a member of the Asheville Rugby Football Club, where he was recently inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Marti Taylor

Operations Manager

Marti joined the Gasperson Team in the summer of 2014.  She has developed four decades of customer relations, as well as operations management.

She is a native of Colorado and a long term residence of California.  She is also a wife and mother of 1 adult son, whom she is very proud of.  In her spare time she enjoys crafting, movies on the big screen and nature walks.

Dwayne Ballew

Warehouse Manager

Dwayne joined the Gasperson team in the summer of 2007. Dwayne has a long history in the furniture manufacturing industry where he obtained a decade of management experience and skills. He is a husband and father of 3 teenage children. Dwayne is very active in a wide variety of outdoor sports including biking and hiking.

Audra Cross

Administrative Assistant

Audra joined the Gasperson team in Summer of 2016.  She came to us with over 8 years of experience in the hospitality and customer service industry.  From hotel management to bank teller, she has integrated gracefully into our Administrative Assistant position and is looking forward to growing with our company.  Outside of work, Audra enjoys spending family time with her three daughters and fiancé. 

Kaleb Vess

Certified Move Consultant

Kaleb is a Certified Moving Consultant for Gasperson Moving & Storage. He began working with the company in 2008 and have experience working as a packer, mover, dispatcher/operations manager, and his current position of moving consultant. A position in which he has held since 2011. He is a resident of  Weaverville, NC with wife, Reilly and son, Hudson, who was born in May of 2016. They attend Trinity Baptist Church, located in Asheville, NC.  He is also a native to the area, so he has a great respect and knowledge of Western North Carolina and its people, heritage, and culture. He considers himself a family man and  enjoys spending as much time as possible with love ones. Some of his interests include, camping, smoking & grilling, NASCAR, baseball (Go Braves!), going to the movies, and listening to all kinds of music. He feels that he lives in one of the most beautiful places in the world and he looks forward to continuing to help the people of our area with their moving service needs.
